Chelsea’s Closet offers children and their siblings the chance to select a NEW costumer and accessories from their mobile costume closet. The organization is 90% volunteer driven which means that $0.87 of every dollar goes to the program and volunteers are critical in supporting the mission. With the support of the Chelsea’s Closet volunteers, the children dress up, hold parades through hospital halls, and work on craft projects.
Today Chelsea’s Closet dress up and play program supports treatment and recovery by providing therapeutic play to more than 2,400 seriously ill children and their families annually in local hospitals. The magical transformation of a child in costume can result in courage and empowerment, as well as therapeutic healing.
“There may not be a cure for all childhood illnesses, but until then we will dance like princesses and fly like superheroes!”
