What We Offer

Workers’ compensation is more than an insurance policy – it’s an entire program dedicated to promoting safety and controlling costs. When you choose LaPorte for your workers’ compensation needs, you receive the following:

Oregon Workers’ Comp Insurance

Under Oregon law, employers are required to carry workers’ compensation insurance or be self-insured. When purchasing insurance, employers can choose to buy a policy from the State Accident Insurance Fund (SAIF) Corporation or from one of the many private insurance companies offering workers’ compensation insurance that complies with Oregon rules.

Employers typically purchase workers’ compensation insurance for one main reason: they have to. Failure to maintain adequate coverage may mean you’re noncompliant and expose your business to expensive penalties.

But, there’s another reason to buy workers’ compensation: it protects both your workers and your company. Worker injuries are common, ranging from relatively minor issues to debilitating or life-threatening conditions. Some industries – like construction and transportation – have higher-than-average risks, but injuries may happen in any sector.

Workers’ compensation establishes a no-fault system for worker injuries. This means workers receive the care they need as quickly as possible. It also means employers avoid costly litigation.

However, not all workers’ compensation programs are the same. To take care of your workers while keeping your costs down, you need a program that leverages proven strategies to help workers recover as quickly as possible. Risk management is also essential, since most injuries are preventable. Being dedicated to safety is the best way to control your costs. Plus, you’ll also see other benefits in worker morale and retention.

Loss Prevention

Worker injuries negatively impact worker morale, employee retention, and workers’ compensation costs. When you prevent injuries, everybody wins.

All employers receive an experience modification factor. If your claims are above the average for your industry, your experience modification factor will mean higher workers’ compensation premiums. If your claims are below the average, your experience modification factor will mean lower premiums.

To help you bring down your experience modification factor, we offer a loss prevention consultation and the following services:

Maximize Your Premium Value

Workers’ compensation premiums are calculated based on industry class code, payroll, and claims history. If any of these factors are incorrect, you may end up paying more than you should. We provide a class code and payroll reporting review to ensure you are not overpaying.

We also provide experience modification and class code rate projections, giving you the insights you need to budget for the future and to empower informed decision-making. Our other services include retrospective rating and dividend plan updates and audit dispute resolution.

Claims Management

Good safety practices prevent many injuries, but some claims may still occur. Proper claims management will help minimize losses while supporting workers. LaPorte provides claims management assistance to reduce the impact on your rates, including:

  • Claims reviews
  • Settlement and reserve reduction advice
  • Early Return to Work assistance
  • Employer-at-Injury Program and Preferred Worker Program assistance
  • Pre-loss consultations
  • Injured worker protection issues
