Your Agent and Advocate
Loss Control Support
By avoiding claims, you’ll keep your insurance costs under control, protect your organization’s reputation, and stay focused on your mission.
To help you achieve this goal, LaPorte offers loss control and risk management support. Whether you’re looking for ways to stay in compliance with ever-shifting regulations or you need resources to keep your workers and volunteers healthy and happy, we can help.
Oregon’s Largest Independently-Owned Agency
Sometimes you want the support of a local, independently-owned agency, but sometimes you need the carrier connections and resources of a large agency. At LaPorte, you get both.
Founded in 1979, LaPorte is now Oregon’s largest independently-owned insurance agency. We help local businesses and nonprofit organizations manage their risks, but we’re also licensed in all 50 states, meaning we can help you with out-of-state insurance needs, too. We work with both regional and national carriers to give you a wide selection of insurance options.
FAQs
01Does my nonprofit really need liability insurance?
02What type of insurance do nonprofit organizations need for volunteers?
Many nonprofit organizations depend on volunteers, but this involves risks. For example, volunteer board members could be sued for alleged mismanagement of the organization – directors and officers insurance provides protection against this type of lawsuit. Alternatively, your volunteers could get into a crash while on duty. To protect against this risk, nonprofits typically need commercial auto insurance for any vehicles the organization owns as well as hired and non-owned auto insurance for personal vehicles used for official purposes. (Note: the owner of the personal vehicle still needs to maintain personal auto insurance.) It’s also important to think about coverage in case a volunteer suffers an injury. We can review your risks and recommend policies that fit your needs.
03What is INSource?
LaPorte’s INSource is a website loaded with risk management, OSHA, employee benefits, and HR tools. LaPorte clients can use the website to search thousands of resources and to connect with more than 300,000 industry peers through the online forum. To help you stay in compliance, we offer comprehensive legislation guides and breaking regulatory updates. LaPorte clients can access all this at no cost. It’s just one more way we help our clients take control of their risks and avoid losses.
