Key to Success:
“I am dedicated to being personable and am adept at finding solutions that benefit the client. I believe in keeping up with industry standards and using the fundamentals of suretyship to analyze, evaluate and arrive at decisions that are prompt and professional.”
Kelly M. NiemelaSurety Bond Manager
A professional dedicated to the surety industry is crucial in supporting the mutual clients within the LaPorte organization. Because we have a diverse business portfolio, understanding all levels of the surety, judicial, fiduciary and commercial bond environments is critical in meeting our clients’ needs.
Kelly began her career in 1990 as an assistant underwriter with Insurance Company of the West. Her expertise grew through several training programs, both offered through ICW and throughout the industry.
Kelly believes understanding the unique bonding needs of clients is important, but more important is representing those clients to the underwriters from both a risk and financial perspective. She not only wears the sales hat, but looks at the full financial impact of the exposure and why it makes sense to take on that risk, serving as the trusted voice of the client.
Kelly has built strong relationships with customers and peers within the industry. She was elected the Surety Association of Oregon President in 2012, an example of the respect she has in the industry and a reflection of the trust her clients see every day.
Living in Oregon all her life has allowed Kelly to grow up around the community she works in and for. Celebrating at the beach, camping or cooking a fabulous meal for her family and friends are the simple joys she appreciates whenever possible.
